How to create

  • Prepare the marinade by whisking together 2 T dark soy sauce, 2 T chili powder, 1 T allulose, 1 T oyster sauce, 1 T minced garlic, a pinch of black pepper, and 100 ml water in a bowl.
  • Cut 300 grams of tofu in half and then into 6 pieces, and chop 1/2 of an onion and 1/2 of a scallion.
Tofu in a skillet
  • Heat a skillet over low heat, spread the tofu out and sear for 3 minutes to release moisture.
💡Baking them first without oil to release the moisture helps them to be well-seasoned and firm in texture.
  • Flip the tofu over and push it to one side, add 1 T of olive oil and sauté the diced onion and scallions for 3 minutes.
💡Drizzle olive oil over the tofu and tilt the skillet to coat the entire pan with oil.
  • Add the sautéed vegetables to the tofu, pour in the reserved marinade, and simmer over medium heat for 3 minutes.
  • Once the sauce is reduced to your desired consistency, remove from heat and finish with 1 T sesame oil and a generous sprinkling of sesame seeds.
  • Serve the rice in a bowl, top with the cooked tofu, and enjoy!

Caveats & tips

  • Baking tofu: Be careful if you bake tofu with oil from the beginning, the oil will explode due to the moisture in the tofu.
  • Seasoning Concentration: Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat so that the flavors are evenly distributed.
  • Adjusting sweetness: Allulose substitute for sugar - oligosaccharides. Allulose is recommended for dieters!
  • Adjusting the amount of rice: Add about 100 grams of brown rice or multigrain rice for a low-calorie meal.
  • Add veggies: Add your favorite ingredients like zucchini, mushrooms, and green chilies.
