- 0.5 T sugar
- 3 slices of kimbap nori
- 400 g rice
- 2 T sesame oil
Tools to use

- Kimbap feet (can be omitted)
* All ingredients were measured using measuring spoons (1T=15cc, 1t=5cc).
How to create

- Place 200 grams of Spam in a ziplock bag and crush it with your hands.
- Finely chop 2 to 4 green chiles.

- In a skillet over medium heat, add the crumbled Spam and sauté until it begins to color around the edges.

- Once colored, add 1 T dark soy sauce and 0.5 T sugar, stir-fry for 2 more minutes, then remove from heat.

- With the heat off, add the chopped green chiles and mix once.
💡 The residual heat from the pan should cook them just a little bit to bring out their flavor and crispy texture.

- In a large bowl, combine 400 grams of rice, sautéed tangy spam, and 2 T sesame oil and toss to coat.
💡 Mix gently to avoid crushing the rice grains.

- Spread the rice in a thin, even layer on top of the nori roll, then roll it up tightly.
💡 A rolling pin makes it easier and tighter to roll kimbap, so it's recommended for beginners and those who want to keep their kimbap in a nice shape. - Slice into bite-sized pieces and place on a plate. Serve with mayonnaise or ssamjang if desired.
Caveats & tips
- Adjust the spiciness: Removing the seeds makes the spice milder.
- Rice temperature: Using lukewarm rice makes it easier to mix and keeps the nori together.
- Slicing tips: Lightly coat your knife with sesame oil to make the rice less sticky.
- Burn points: Sautéing the Spam long enough to give it a toasted flavor on the short side adds a nice sweet flavor.
