💡 âInteresting facts and tips

Tomato and egg compatibility

Tomatoes are high in vitamin C, and eggs are high in protein, so you'll get a good nutritional balance when you eat them together.

✔ Don't like the sourness of tomatoes?

  • Blanch tomatoes in boiling water for 10 seconds before sautéing and remove the skins to reduce sourness.
  • Adding 1/2 t sugar when sautéing the tomatoes will neutralize the sourness and add a touch of flavor.
  • Using ripe tomatoes instead of sour tomatoes naturally adds sweetness.
  • Adding 2 T of ketchup cuts the sourness and adds both savory and sweetness.

✔ What if the tomatoes are ripe?

  • The lycopene in tomatoes is better absorbed by the body when heated.
  • Cooked tomatoes have more antioxidant power than raw tomatoes.
  • Cooking with olive oil allows for better absorption of fat-soluble nutrients.
